Arilus cristatus

Description:

Brownish bug about 1 inch long. It is a true bug and a type of an assassin bug. It has a crest with spikes in it's back. It has a long mouthpart used to stab prey, immobilize it and then suck it up.

Habitat:

Mostly eastern and central North America in wooded,leafy areas.

Notes:

Cousin of the stinkbug.
