Gasteracantha cancriformis
They are also commonly called Spiny-backed orb-weavers, due to the prominent spines on their abdomen. These spiders can reach sizes of up to 30mm in diameter (measured from spike to spike). Although their shell is shaped like a crab shell with spikes, it is not to be confused with a crab spider.

Great spider!
Hi Albert! Where you know the common name of the species, please could you look up & add the scientific name - it is very easy to do on a Google search. That takes the spotting out of the "unknown" list. We would also appreciate it if you could add a reference link & complete some info in the details field for your spottings.

super spotting!
FYI, the above photos were featured in the "Born To Be Wild" documentary (about 4:44 in the vid) which was aired on GMA7, a local TV station here. The spider was spotted in the same location where we took the video. I already removed the video as per your request.
Hi AlbertTamayo! Fantastic shot of a spiny-backed orb-weaver. However, I need to remind you about our rules on videos: taken from FAQ: "We are only looking for videos you have taken that are directly related to your spotting". We are thus kindly asking you to take this video down. Still, you're welcome to advertise yourself on your profile. Thank you for your understanding.
