Striped Hermit Crab

Clibanarius vittatus

Description:

The trail at Grand Isle park is located on the coast in a tidal marsh area so some parts of the trail are often under water. There was probably about an inche of water over half the trail and these little guys were just busying about along the trail. If you didn't see it move it is easy to mistake for just another rock in the trail.

Habitat:

Gulf of Mexico salt marsh.
