Description:

Red tint, white spots surrounded in black circle on underside of abdomen.

Habitat:

Web was low on porch.

Notes:

I think it is an orb weaver of some sort... I'm just learning the details of identifying. This site rocks!

So to get it to species I'd need a top shot (dorsal)? Now I know, thanks a heap.

Good identifying points on spiders are, of course, ventral and dorsal views, but also eye arrangement is very important for some spiders. This little lady just happens to have an abdomen that is identifiable to genus with this ventral view.

I do not :( I had the camera out in September and took pictures of a bunch of spiders in a short time. Just found this site a week or so ago, now that I know what to look for and what helps I know to take multiple angles.
