Description:

This gorgeous deep maroon trillium sports some of the largest blooms for the genus. Of the two red blooming trilliums in this area, this is the one with the flower on a pedicel, i.e. the blossom nods below the leaves.

Habitat:

Found only in the mountains of the southeastern United States.

Notes:

Spotted in the Cohutta Wilderness Area
