Snapping Turtle

Chelydra serpentina

Notes:

This baby was looking to settle into my fish pond. I relocated him to a more suitable swamp down the road.

Through the years I've relocated a few adults down to the swamp that were making their way to my pond. I figured we'd all be better off :)

They are master "lurkers"!

Exactly! I couldn't help but wonder the next time I cleaned the pond out if Momma was lurking somewhere on the bottom.

Good idea!! It is a little intimidating to swim with them and I bet there wouldn't be many fish left!
