A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Dark grey with blue-green highlights and patches of rust color about the face and on the edges of the wings. This bird was found dead near my home in Bellevue, WA. It was donated to the Burke Museum of Natural History. The curator suggested it may have hit a glass window or possibly was injured by a car. This species spends a lot of time on the ground putting it at serious risk where people and cats are found.
Wet vociferous or mixed vociferous-deciduous forests. It winters in forests, parks, and gardens.
It feeds on the ground in lead litter for insects and other arthropods. It also eats fruits and is attracted to feeders. Notes n habitat from "Bird Songs Bible", Les Beletsky Ed.
