The anhinga are truly amazing. They are often seen drying their wings in the sun after a long swim in the water looking for food. They must dry their wings because they lack the oil gland on their back to waterproof the feathers. They are so interesting to watch in the water because their entire body is submerged with only their heads sticking out. The truly look like a snake!
