African Lion

Panthera Leo

Description:

The second largest living cat after the tiger. This was taken with a Canon Elan IIe with a 300mm lens.

Habitat:

Wild African lions live in Sub-Saharan Africa. They will typically inhabit savanna and grassland, although they may take to bush and forest, and they are unusually social in comparison to other cats. Habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern.
