Barred-fin Moray Eel

Gymnothorax zonipectis

Description:

They feed nocturnally in the open on fish, octopus and crustaceans. They ca grow to a length of about 80cm.

Habitat:

Found singly in crevices of reefs, usually on outer reef slopes. Often sharing the hole with banded shrimp.

Notes:

It was unusual seeing this moray in a barrel sponge. I took this shot during a night dive.
