Grey-crowned babbler

Pomatostomus temporalis

Description:

Known as Happy Family bird and many other local names. Grey crown, white chest, underparts rufous and grey, wings grey/brown, beak black and curved, grey stripe past eye from beak to wings.

Habitat:

Found throughout much of Australia. Once more common but environmental factors, human impact and predation are affecting populations. Dry open woodland and also cleared lands are prefered habitat areas.

Notes:

This is 'baby babbler' the only one to survive from this nesting, Magpies and feral cats took a toll on the young and adults over time. Parent at nest.
