Jeweled gecko

Naultinus gemmeus

Description:

This we beauty was on a tree at a friends place. The lizards come out in the sun first thing in the morning. They are very difficult to see as they blend in with the background very well. This day I was late getting there, but the morning had been overcast and the sun came out when I arrived. The lizards came out shortly after.

Habitat:

In this site the lizards are on the North facing sites in the trees.

Notes:

I took the twins out to see these little fellows and they were amazed that I even new what I was doing. 9 year old girls have no idea what dad does. The second photo is Jo showing the twins the Gecko. I also refuse to give an accurate grid for these lizards as there has been a problem of people trying to smuggle them out of New Zealand.
