Dark gray lizard. I can't tell what species it is because it's in its dark phase.

I think there are several sub-species. It could also be one of those.

Thank you jumpingspiderman. I wasn't sure it was a western fence lizard. I have another spotting in its dark phase http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/781... but looked a little different. I'll update the ID now.

Oddly enough, it's right across from Westfield, North County. There's Lake Hodges trail and Mule Hill trail you can choose from. Lake Hodges is paved goes along the freeway, underneath then west to the end of the lake. Mule Hill is dirt and heads east. They're both easy and full of life!
