Almond blossom

Prunus dulcis

Description:

Deciduous tree with open, rounded crown. Branches are spiny. Leaves alternate and oval, finely toothed and folded along midrib. Rink or white five-petalled flowers appear February to March. Edible almond borne inside fleshy green fruit. Widespread.

Notes:

This was spotted at the beginning of December, even though almond blossom isn't supposed to appear on the trees until at least the middle of January.
