Rubens and Lauren, I spotted these ants ( http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/102... ) at Uberaba, Minas Gerais - closer to your home than mine, Rubens. They were ID'd as Myrmicine ants, Cephalotes sp. They were ID'd by Oxyjack, who provided a lot of info about them. Can you please take a look and comment?

Thank you very much Lauren for this nice information, they are very similar with the picture. This is the first time I saw this ant, and I think they are not so common (at least in the southeast of Brazil).

Hi. I have been in contact with Dr. Brian Fisher of the California Academy of Science in San Francisco about your ant. He says it is a species of Procryptocerus and gave me the link for the species on www.antweb.org, which is a really neat site for ants.
