Turtles

Box turtle?

Description:

Two turtles one hinged shell one not

Habitat:

Driveway through forest near Little Emory river

Notes:

Wow, within 15 minutes two different turtles same driveway. Approx. Size of palm of hand. Smaller more vividly marked does not have hinged bottom of shell. Slightly larger one does have bottom hinge and was noticeably heavier. In first picture you can see his nice turtle-neck :) but not fully extended. About a Month and a half ago we found a smaller one of the not-hinged turtle, someone had suggested it as eastern box turtle. I got a bottom picture of this one, trying to find out if that’s correct since there’s no hinge?
