Brown Pelican

Pelecanus occidentalis

Habitat:

Beach

Notes:

An incredible fisherman, this pelican was contented to fish off the Cocoa Beach Pier while we had our own lunch. I was taken back by their immense size and abilities.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes, I appreciate that. Thank you to Liam for confirming the species ID; didn't want to put that up on there until I had a suggestion that I was correct :)

Also - the scientific name for the brown pelican is Pelecanus occidentalis. Could you add this to your spotting in the correct field? :) It just helps to link your spotting to similar ones, and makes it more complete! Welcome to Project Noah, by the way, hope to see more from you!
