Arizona giant centipede

Scolopendra heros arizonensis

Description:

This Arizona subspecies can be identified by its black head and tail-end, red or orange body, and yellowish legs.

Habitat:

Centipedes usually hide under rocks, logs, and other debris where humidity is present, and hunt at night when the temperatures are cooler.

Notes:

This centipede was approximately 8 - 10 inches in length.
