Tigrisoma mexicanum
spotted on rocky beach of Nicoya Peninsula
fasciated tiger heron possibly?
Yes, a juvenile Bare-throated Tiger Heron. The adult Fasciated and Rufescent don't have the spangled pattern on the back. The juveniles are not so tall and lack the naked throat patch that this bird shows.
BARE Throated Juvenile for me.
Doesn't he blend well?
Lovely spot!
Auntnance, this looks very close to a Bare throated tiger heron. Maybe Juvenile.
Very Nice ,,,
