Hi Samuelg321, and Welcome to Project Noah! This is a cultivated exotic species, and because of this it does not qualify for the local alpine flora mission. I hope you will find something than can go in there. If you're not sure read the details about the mission!

they freak me out every time they do that. I know it's coming but am never ready tor the sound.

Hello Samuel and welcome to Noah!
I really love these seed pods, they're so velvety on the outside. The plant they belong to is called Wisteria: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisteria
The best thing about these pods is that when they open, they kind of explode! I kept one in my pocket for a while 'cos I liked the feel of it, then took it out and put it in my living room. One day when the pod had become totally dry, I heard kerrping, kerrrping, kerrping - like somebody was firing some kind of gun in the living room! It was the seeds being thrown out of the pod and bouncing off all kinds of stuff! They really flew!
