Daemonorops melanochaetes
This is the base of D. melanochaetes leaf. D. melanochaetes has cirrus, supporting their life as a climbing rattan (liana). Cirrus is an elongation from petiole and leafless. In Mount Halimun Salak National Park, similar species D. rubra occur, but having different color of spine base. D. rubra has yellow spine base color, but D. melanochaetes spine base color is dull-green.
Found at high elevation, app. 1000 m from sea level.
