Wild Giant Panda droppings

Ailuropoda melanoleuca qinlingensis

Description:

The average giant panda eats as much as 9 to 14 kg (20 to 30 pounds) of bamboo shoots a day. Because the giant panda consumes a diet low in nutrition, it is important for it to keep its digestive tract full. The bamboo is still very visible their droppings, hardly digested at all.

Habitat:

central China, Qinling mountains

Notes:

I tracked wild gaint pandas and other wildlife for 10 days in Foping Reserve in central China, 5 hours drive from Xi'an. I was surprised to see giant panda droppings the first day in the reserve right on the trail to the park headquarters.
