This is a small goose with a short bill, short tail & a small white patch on either side of it's neck. It's markings were beautiful.
I believe they live near the tidal marshes and estuaries because they eat the sea grasses and sea lettuce.
Saw a whole flock of these up close at the entrance to the Cape Cod Canal in Sandwich today while eating my lunch.
