Eastern gray squirrel

Sciurus carolinensis

Description:

"As the name suggests, the eastern gray squirrel has predominantly gray fur but it can have a brownish color. It has a white underside and a large bushy tail. Particularly in urban situations where the risk of predation is reduced, both white- and black-colored individuals are quite often found."-Wikipedia

Notes:

This particular one was scratching his side, while he was on the fence post. If you look closely, it looks like he has a gash in his side that has heeled but not grown the fur back.

Thanks, I agree. I don't normally even take pictures of the squirrels here because they are so plentiful and common. But this guy was kinda cute.
