Melithreptus lunatus
Small honeyeater with distinctive red rim above eye, head black, white nape and underparts, olive/yellow back, tail, wings mixed with brown. The southern form has fawn/white eye rim instead of red. Black beak, dark legs. Flighty and gathers in small groups.
Found throughout eastern states along coast and slightly inland and also bottom of WA. Wet and dry scleofophyll forests are favoured, birds will travel to forage for nectar and associated insects.
