Hairy caterpillar -3

Description:

A narrow black caterpillar about 20mm long. It was uniformly hairy, with tufts of soft black bristles around the head followed by tufts of yellow bristles on either side of the mid line on the thoracic segments and black and white bristles on the abdominal segments. Tufts of white bristles studded each abdominal segment on the sides. Head looked red-coloured but could not be studied.

Habitat:

Pine tree

Notes:

This caterpillar was spotted around noon. It was very active crawling on the bark of a pine tree. There were similar but smaller caterpillars on the same tree; some were dangling on thin silk.
