Description:

An Apple snail shell spotted along the shoreline of Pohick Bay (a freshwater body). Apple snails are also commonly known as "Mystery snails." This specimen is approximately 2-3" in length; there were lots of smaller shells on the beach.

Habitat:

OK, I must admit thinking, "Yeah, I know the snail's identity is a mystery!" Then I realized that's one of its common names. Too funny! Thanks for the species ID suggestion, "Chaenorrhinum."
