Project Noah Nature School
Hypselonotus atratus
approx. 1 inch long
spotted on mountain roadside
Would you mind adding this beautiful spotting to this Costa Rica's arthropods mission ? http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8092...
I believe you're right; it's most likely a true bug. But I have searched and can't seem to find a match.
Not quite an assassin bug, but it is in a related family. Maybe Lygaeidae.
Not sure what it is but it's a beauty! Looks big too!
Nice shot
