Citrus reticulata
At 5:00 a.m. in the morning, I decided to eat a tangerine. While I was peeling this tangerine, I noticed a dark object, inside this tangerine. It looked like an expired caterpillar or insect. This object, was three fourths of an inch long, and one fourth of an inch wide. The colors of this object, was black and different shades of brown. This object, was also wet and shiny. Tangerine: A small citrus fruit, with a loose skin, especially one of a variety with deep orange-red skin. Kingdom: Plantae Order: Sapindales Family: Rutaceae.

I studied the six tangerine photos, and I did Not see a caterpillar or bug, inside this tangerine. The black and brown area, that was inside this tangerine, is an area that has "rotted away". The cause of this "rotting away", is unknown....
It certainly is :-)
I went to the food store last night, and I bought a bag of tangerines. I threw the empty tangerine bag, into the garbage dumpster last night. I have no idea where the tangerines came from. To me, this is a beautiful experience of nature....
Was the tangerine locally produced maplemoth? It may help identify the insect. If you want more help with identifying the insect I would suggest removing the tangerine from the Scientific name field and ticking help with ID.
Organic product certificate ;-)
