Bluebanded Angelfish

Pygoplites diacanthus

Description:

Also known as Regal Angelfish, Royal Angelfish and Empress Angelfish. Their colors vary from place to place. They feed on sponges, algae and benthic invertebrates, and grow to a length of about 25cm.

Habitat:

Found singly or in small groups in shallow coastal reefs to outer reef dropoffs, where there is rich coral growth. Found at depths of 3 to 80m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

I'm quite happy that I've finally been able to capture this guy on camera. It's so hard to get a picture of them because they're so shy.
