Habitat:

Found in shallow waters (to 60 feet), usually near the bottom in open sandy areas, but occasionally over reefs and seagrass beds from Massachusetts to Brazil, including Florida, the Bahamas, the Antilles, the southeastern and northwestern coastal waters of the Caribbean, and most of the Gulf of Mexico.

Notes:

This large snapper swam along side the divers for a while.
