Firetail

Persicaria amplexicaulis ‘Speciosa’

Description:

Firetail is an herbaceous perennial forming a clump to 1.2 m in height, with large, prominently veined ovate leaves and small bright crimson red flowers borne in dense, long-stalked spikes to 10 cm in length.

Habitat:

Firetail is a cultivar and easily grows in average, medium to wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Best flowering in full sun, but appreciates light shade in drier soils and in hot, humid conditions.

Notes:

Perhaps these were planted there on purpose or it could be a naturalised population. Spotted in rural area of Deventer, Holland.(sources:see reference)
