Tree species
Eastern US
A beautiful tree, native to the US, widely found in the southeastern states west to Texas, and up the central atlantic coastal states. Ohio doesn't appear to be it's native range, so perhaps yours was planted as an ornamental? Wondering.
The seed ball is a favorite amongst kids. You can stack them together, and create little animals with them. But they are real buggers to step on with bare feet.
