Yellow Rattle

Rhinanthus minor

Description:

I was surprised to learn that these plants are partially parasitic and steal nutrients from the roots of nearby plants! They also appear to have small, unopened buds, but what you are actually seeing is the full flower.

Habitat:

Grassy, densely vegetated field
