Virginia Spiderwort

Tradescantia virginiana

Description:

Native to eastern North America. This perennial plant has pretty purple flowers with three petals (they are more purple than the images, my camera decided it needed to be more blue). Foliage is gray-green with long flat leaves. This particular plant may be cultivated.

Habitat:

Suburban yard, growing next to a small man made fish pond.
