Leafhopper

Description:

Tiny, white. looks like a minute little tube.

Habitat:

All over in this season; this one was on a leaf by the roadside.

Notes:

Hoppers like these and another species that was tinier, lime green with black specks are common during this season. These bite! They also get into the ears, eyes and mouth. During Diwali, our festival of lights, these used to die by the thousands because they were attracted to the flame. I remember that when the house was swept the following day a lot of the dust was actually these insects. Now, most people decorate the house with tiny electric bulb and these insects are proliferating. On the plus side, the Black Drongo (Dicrurus macrocercus) is having a feast.Everyday.
