Chestnut-tailed Starling or Grey-headed Myna

Sturnia malabarica

Description:

Head and neck feathers are pale grey.Upperparts are also grey; Underparts are rufous chestnut in colour. Tail is chestnut coloured. Base of bill is blue but the tip is yellow.

Habitat:

Residential colony. Feeding on insects but will soon come to claim biscuit crumbs.

Notes:

I see these birds through winter but very rarely, if at all, in summer. This is the first one I spotted this year. Also called Sturnus malabaricus
