A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Very small orchid root system, whole thing could sit atop a coin. Has a seed pod, No foliage. Possibly a "Ghost" orchid. Its alive and growing, see second photo. I will document its growth this coming spring and summer.

Hopefully this is an "Ghost Orchid". Im a big fan of orchids and have hoped to see a ghost my whole life. Keep your fingers crossed, I will visit this tree every week and whenever possible. Original spotting photo on 1/16/12. photo #2 on 2/28/12.
Please join my mission and help spread awareness for the protection of the many orchids found in South Florida. http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1205...
Hi, that is definitely not a ghost orchid (Dendrophylax lindenii). Looks like it could be a jingle bell orchid (Dendrophylax porrectus).
