Most probably a fence lizard....that is the only reptile see here in South California:(
This is a subspecies of the Western Fence Lizard that's in our area :) You were correct with the ID guess in your description!
You are correct Cindy....the ventral side of this lizard was cobalt blue like that of the great basin fence lizard..thank you
