This was the only bird of this species that I spotted in two days visiting Thale Noi Wetlands.

Yes, a Little Grebe.
It would be in non-breeding plumage. Breeding plumage is a different color set.
It looks like it might be a Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis, see the following:
