Snowshoe hare

Lepus americanus

Notes:

This little fella almost got stepped on; out for a walk at the park one day, passing through high grass. All his brothers and sisters raced out of the nest as we walked over it; he just froze. A close check made sure he wasn't hurt, and then he was released to run into the bushes with his siblings.
