Description:

Medium-sized (body length 15-30 mm), body black with metallic blue sheen and long yellow waist. Hind legs black with yellow bands, fore and mid legs reddish. Antennae reddish with black tips. Wings clear. Biology: Females excavate short, single-celled burrow in vertical banks, using water collected from pools to soften the soil and to make mud to seal the nest. Cells are mass provisioned with button spiders.

Habitat:

A wide variety of vegetation types.
