The flowers (4-30) are papillonaceous, pale yellow or greenish in colour. The pods are long, cylindrical, hairy and they contain 7 to 15 small seeds. Seeds: ellipsoid or cube-like, commonly green but sometimes yellow, olive, brown, purplish brown or black, marbled or mottled with black patches, glossy or dull; hilum white, conspicuously flat. The seeds are commonly used in various cuisines across Asia. They are alternatively known as the mung bean, moong bean and green gram. In one of the image you can see an Ant (Family: Formicidae). They also help in pollination.
