A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Tamius stratius
The Eastern chipmunk is a common rodent found in the eastern half of the United States. They dig extensive tunnels with multiple entrances across forests, grasslands, and suburban lawns. They can be lured out with peanuts, which they enjoy greatly.
This one was near one of his burrow's entrances at the base of a tree in a nature preserve.
