Esta serpente habita em largas áreas da América do Sul, nomeadamente no Norte da Argentina, Brasil e Venezuela. O habitat preferido destas cobras são os terrenos agrícolas, se bem que também se encontrem junto aos grandes aglomerados urbanos, já que aí encontram alimento com grande facilidade. O veneno desta espécie é altamente letal para os humanos e para os animais domésticos, pelo que qualquer dentada destas serpentes necessita de tratamento hospitalar ou veterinário urgente.

Also commonly called Urutu or Wutu.
I think you are right Braelei as the bothrops have been reclassified rhinocerophis.
