Acacia redolens
Large, evergreen bush with small, yellow-orange balls of inflorescence that grow up most of each branch in between the leaves. The leaves are green, lanceolate and smooth.
Edge of parking lot in dry, chaparral area of Lake Poway. This plant is not native to California.

Sorry, once again I neglected to mention the actual size. This one was about 4 feet high and about 10 feet wide. There may have been two next to each other but it was so dense, I couldn't tell.
acacia redolens can be a shrub or groundcover that can be 15 feet wide but only a few feet high. is that what you mean by large?
Hi jprat001, thank you for the ID suggestion! The only info I found on it was it was a low-growing bush or groundcover. Is there a large variety?
