Yellow spotted gecko

Hemidactylus prashadi

Description:

It was on a monsoon night in one of the biodiversity hotspot in the western ghats. It is one of the few places during monsoons where you get to see beautiful life forms. Came across many species of reptiles and amphibians. One of them is this - a yellow spotted gecko which looks like a deccan banded gecko from a distance. Given the weather conditions, we could only see the yellow spots burning bright under our torch light. On closer inspection we realized it to be the yellow spotted gecko an endemic gecko to the western ghats.
