Bos indicus x ?
There seems to be 2 to three breeds of cattle in this area. They are'nt milked but used for grazing/fertilizing the rice fields after harvesting, or in this case, around a coconut plantation. Beef is in the Thai diet though very little is eaten here where I live, but I imagine some stock would be sold for slaughter. This breed could be a Brahman x
In Thailand, there are around 5.66 million Thai indigenous cattle and their crossbred derivatives (1.76 million cows) (DLD, 2004). Thai indigenous cattle are classified as Bos indicus. Their characteristics are similar to other indigenous cattle in Southeast Asia. The four main breeds of Thai indigenous cattle are Kow-Lamphun, Kho-Esarn, Kho-Lan and Kho-Chon cattle in the northern, northeastern, central and southern parts of Thailand respectively. They are easily raised, good reproductive performance, producing a calf every year, and resistant to diseases and parasites.

@Argybee - I have seen many of the Sahiwal bulls here in the south of Thailand. Many owners tether their bulls by the roadside, I think to display their livestock for breeding purposes. It's certainly possible that this is a cross. NOT happy at posing for a photo .. the expression says it all really : ( It's a gorgeous colour. I like cows too : )
This might be a cross between “Kao Lamphun” and Sahiwal cattle.
The value of indigenous breeds...
