OK, that sounds good. We'll release them in July or August. I have one more question. I hope you don't mind the bombardment of questions! We have this one tadpole which we collected at the same time. It is still very small and has no legs or arms. Do you think it is a different species, or could it just be slower to develop? Maybe there isn't enough information to go on, but I thought you might have an idea..

Do you know how long it takes them to get to full size?

Thanks dferris1. I think (not 100% sure but I think) that these are the same kind I found at the same site last year. Last year when they completed their metamorphosis, the frogs were tiny, probably less than 1" long. They used to climb up the sides of the aquarium, as well as spending time on rocks. I wondered if their ability to climb up the glass meant they might be some kind of tree frog. I just don't know if any frog or toad could do that!

Congratulations, and thank you for these beautiful photos! I'm so glad to hear some Monarchs made it down there. Do you have any idea of what the numbers are like, compared to last year? This year we saw hardly any in New England... : (
Would love an update and more photos!

My guess would be Eastern Ribbon Snake (Thamnophis sauritus sauritus).
