DerekDickson Bald Eagle
Bald Eagle commented on by DerekDickson Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada11 years ago

Thanks Christy, if you haven't been to Vancouver Island you are missing literally thousands and thousands of bald eagles. I watch them every year they will disappear for a few weeks when the salmon runs are in the rivers and then back for winter. We regularly watch them glide and spiral upwards with the thermals, sometimes seven or more at a time. When out on the ocean if we catch some bottom fish that can't go back we will look for an eagle on an outcrop, wave the fish and then throw on to the water, the eagle then swoops done and takes it from the surface. This island is home to a whole variety of eagles, hawks, falcons, owls and a host of other species.
